My Schalke story . . .
My first visit to the Veltins Arena was back in 2007. My family lived in Guetersloh and wanted to support a German football team and Shane suggested Schalke 04. Jacob was just 7 years old at his first match. He is now 26.
We immediately fell in love with the Royal Blues and the atmosphere at the matches. You know what they say “Einmal Schalke, immer Schalke” 💙
In our first season Schalke were playing in the Champions League and from our seats in the family block we cheered on our team against opponents such as Barcelona.
We had our own flag made incorporating the George Cross with FC Schalke 04 and displayed it in arena every home game.
At one match we spotted a Blue Union Flag in the Nordkurve and met our first other UK fans from Gillingham. This is where we were introduced to the founding members of the UK fan club and the rest, as they say, is history.
As we now live in Dorset, we get across to GE as much as we can, but sadly not as much as we would like. Will always love my Schalke family 💙
