John Mellor (England)

I was stationed at RAF Laarbruch from 1994/96 & went as a neutral to watch Monchengladbach vs Schalke, I was talking to a few fans & they explained that Gelsenkirchen was a coal mining town & as an ex miner they became my adopted team.

In 2013 I became a member of the Schalke FanClub UK & saw them play at Chelsea in the champions league & a few days later I flew to Germany to see my first game at the Veltins arena. I was amazed at the friendliness of the Schalke fans & the fantastic arena & have been to games both home & away ever since. My family & friends have also caught the Schalke bug & 7 of them have also made members & we often travel together to the games.
